Y'all know I talk a lot of smack...I'm snarky...I'm opinionated... vain...egotistical...but never wrong.
In fact, one time I thought I was wrong...but I was mistaken.
Anyway, despite that opening, this is a serious video.
I've been noodling WTH is going on in the world of tech for a minute.
I've been knee-deep in tech, head-first, for 25 years.
I've used customer databases and CRMs for nearly 30 years, back before SaaS was a thing.
I've successfully sold through and survived the dot-com crash, the 9/11 attacks, the real estate collapse, COVID, and several other calamities.
Since 2006, I've owned The Sales Whisperer®.
Since 2007, I've worked with marketing automation tools to help professional salespeople, sales managers, business owners, and entrepreneurs sell more, faster, at higher margins, with less stress, more predictably, while having more fun doing it.
In 2012, I wrote a book on one of the leading platforms of the day.
I've successfully sold through and leveraged the creation and expansion of the internet, high-speed internet, smartphones, high-speed cellular, social media, and sales and marketing automation.
Which brings me to the purpose of this post and video: AI.
Yes, I'm late to the game. (Note that I didn't say I was smart up above...but I am stubborn and tenacious and pigheaded, so once I figure sh1t out...watch out...but I digress.)
But am I late to the game?
And most importantly, are you late to the game?
No and no.
But you're about to be.
But it's easy not to be.
Much like how I got on the Keap bandwagon in 2008 and then HubSpot in 2014, you're going to see more content from me on AI starting last week.
But not geeky crap.
Not "look how smart I am for spewing a bunch of jargon" crap.
Not "look how creative I am with my Bigfoot videos" crap.
I'm going to show how professional salespeople, sales managers, business owners, and entrepreneurs can affordably, quickly, reliably, and effectively use this new magic to sell more, faster, at higher margins, with less stress, more predictably, while having more fun doing it. (Repetition is one of the keys to marketing. I'll share the others in the Inner Circle call later this morning. You should join.)
When I literally stumbled across Infusionsoft in 2008, my eyes were opened to the power of good, affordable technology to make my sales and entrepreneurial life easy.
It was $5,000 down and $299/mo for what was really little more than a cobbled-together hobgoblin of half-baked tools with limited support but a lot of optimism because, despite its half-baked status, it was the only game in town for the small business owner and entrepreneurs.
Well, what you can do with AI now for $5k down and $299/mo is...
Let me put it to you this way...
On Jan 27, 2017, I stepped onto the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu mats for the first time, and I was immediately hooked and have trained 5-6 days a week ever since.
If you've followed me for more than a minute, you've seen copious posts and pictures of my 8.5-year journey from know-nothing white belt to 4-stripe brown belt.
BJJ gives mere mortals super-powers insofar as being able to defend themselves from an untrained attacker of almost any size.
Well, AI brings that type of superpower to you in sales, marketing, and business process simplification, automation, and efficiency.
But it's not all unicorns and rainbows.
It's impossible to go back in time and explain GPS to Christopher Columbus, because he just doesn't know what he doesn't know.
So, start taking courses now, like, literally today, either free or paid, and/or retain someone to start mapping out where to start.
That part is not specific to AI.
When looking to improve any process, you must first document both your current and ideal states.
Years ago, I created my "Process Before Login" as a first step with my CRM clients.
You don't know what you don't know.
If you're tolerating some bullsh1t, ineffective processes, it's because you don't know what the affordable tools and means are to fix them.
And I get it. You don't have time.
You don't have time because of your ineffective processes.
It's an infinite loop of entropy dragging you down.
At some point—hopefully soon—you get fed up and say, "Let it all come crashing down if it must, but I can't keep going on like this," and you'll take a moment to document the chaos so you can then plot a course out of the chaos.
If you want to talk about it, the link to my calendar for a free call is in the video.
I gotta get ready for my weekly Inner Circle call. You should join me.
Market like you mean it.
Now go sell something.
