Today, I just booked a successful author, speaker, athlete, entrepreneur on The Sales Podcast.
His assistant reached out to me on August 18th, and I missed the message because I was traveling to Maine for eight days to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with ORIGIN® and Brian Littlefield and JP Dinnell...who both avoided rolling with me...they didn't want to hurt me...they're kind and considerate that way, but I digress...
Anyway, I get pitched at least 30 times a day between email, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms from people and agencies who want to come on the show.
But this guy is professional and thorough enough to follow up.
Now his assistant's message arrives when I have time to read it, and I notice the "personal video" line.
Now, I see this all the time, and I must admit I'm old...jaded...and cantankerous...so I didn't believe it was a custom video...but I was curious, so I clicked it...and low and behold...it was a 3-minute, 46-second video for me.
He was in a suit with a nice backdrop showcasing his many books.
He had good lighting.
He had good sound.
He used my name.
He mentioned The Sales Podcast.
He told me his background.
But to be honest, he had me sold within eight seconds, which is the time it took for him to say my name and mention my podcast by name.
Hell, truth be told, I was sold in the first two seconds because the video was professional, and he opened with my name.
