“I secure you to help protect what matters most”
WTH is that?
That is the one-line bio of a dude on LinkedIn.
At a quick glance—which is all we might ever get from a prospect—he looks like a nice guy.
Nice headshot.
Nice LinkedIn cover image.
An accomplished professional.
It would be good to know someone like this.
But he only got a deeper look from me because:
—He requested to join my group on LinkedIn
—I’m a curious salesman and marketer
Being curious, the salesman/marketer in me thought, “With that tagline, I bet he’s in insurance.”
Nope. (Take a guess as to his industry.)
Turns out, he’s actually an accomplished individual with a great story...but his tagline is confusing, and a confused mind says no.
This is why I created my own tagline and video training series called “Make Every Sale.”
To make any sale, you must make every sale.
Your prospects are sizing you up.
They are Googling and ChatGPTing you.
They are judging you by your headshot, logo, cover images, tagline, social media posts, out-of-date copyright on the bottom of your website, typos on your site, things you like, and repost on social media, etc.
They judge your voicemails, the comments you leave on their posts, as you attempt to curry favor with them, and how you engage with their assistants, peers, and staff.
To make any sale, you must make every single solitary sale.
And when you blindly use AI and mail-merging and other automation tools without fully understanding them and proof-reading and validating your prospect data, you run the risk of mass-producing a mistake, and quickly telling the world that you
are a shortcut taker
lack attention to detail
are all about the chase but not service and support
have commission breath.
So, slow your roll.
Take a step back today and over the next week or so to look at everything you’re putting out into the world and ensure it’s top-notch, or at least not broken, filled with errors, or confusing.
Sounds easy, but it’s hard to read the label from inside the bottle.
A great BJJ coach sees the flaw in your attack in under five seconds because he has the experience and the detached perspective to see the big picture.
Find someone to help you do the same.
I did that in 1993 when I wanted to get better at golf.
I did that in 2002 when I wanted to get better at negotiations.
I did that in 2005 when I wanted to get better at speaking.
I did that in 2006 when I wanted to get better at selling.
I did that basically every year ever since, either in the form of joining a mastermind, starting a mastermind, attending conferences, starting my own podcast so I can speak to experts for free, and starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2017.
I’ve lived the African proverb:
If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
It’s why I kick things off with my clients via my 12 Weeks To Peak™ program, then you can join The Whisper Dojo.
We work in a small group or 1-on-1 for 12 weeks.
It’s hard work.
You won’t like me some days.
You might even hate me some days.
But at the end of the 12 weeks, you’ll love me because you’ll love the results, and you’ll love who you’ve become.
Hit me up if you’d like to discuss it.
Market like you mean it. Now go sell something.
