Social Media Marketing and Unicorns and Rainbows

by thesaleswhisperer September 26, 2011 Small Business Marketing

“If you’ve read about social media or been to any marketing conferences, you’ve probably heard tons of advice like love your customers, engage in the conversation, be yourself, and make friends. I call this unicorns-and-rainbows advice. Take a couple of time-honored adages, add in the unquestioning awe of an unaware audience, and pretty soon you’ve got an entire industry based on easy-to-agree-with but unsubstantiated ideas. But there’s a problem. Myths aren’t real and superstitions often do more harm than good.” -Dan Zarrella, Zarrella’s Hierarchy of Contagiousness So many people think “if I just get a Twitter account and Facebook Fan Page I can grow my business.” Really? I hope you have a prescription for whatever it is you’re smoking. The irony is most people are neither sociable or knowledgeable when it comes to marketing but somehow two wrongs make a right when it comes to Twotting and Facetubing and Youbooking. (There are [...]

Tips For New InfusionSoft Users

by thesaleswhisperer September 23, 2011 Infusionsoft

Joe Manna, InfusionSoft’s Community Manager, asked this question: What are your tips and advice for new InfusionSoft users? Here’s what I wrote: Sit in a sound-proof room, open your eyes wide, type only with your right hand, wipe away your tears with your left hand as you get a dose of humble pie as you realize four things: How many systems and processes you DON’T have in place. How much work it will take to develop good systems and processes. How much money you were leaving on the table by not having having good processes. How much money you will soon be making while you sleep once you develop and implement these good processes into InfusionSoft’s good system. I’m serious about the “humble pie.” Most clients that get mad at InfusionSoft are really just frustrated with their own lack of scripts, marketing systems, email sequences, ability to measure the ROI [...]

InfusionSoft Fall Preview: Interactive List View

by thesaleswhisperer September 3, 2011 Infusionsoft

A better way to follow-up using InfusionSoft includes their new “Interactive List View.” More and more clients are using InfusionSoft more like a traditional CRM, which means looking up contact records, calling them and then taking some sort of action such as: Adding a Note. Viewing their Note History. Viewing / Adding Tags to the record. Creating a Task and/or Appointment. Adding the contact to a Follow-Up Sequence. And/or just sending them an Email from within the Contact record. This new feature enables users to work through their lead/client lists faster and more efficiently and we all know that in order to grow sales you need to compress time frames. Another nice benefit of this update is that once you are done updating a contact record you are returned to the list so you can go right to the next contact. Previously you had to either update the list or [...]

InfusionSoft Fall 2011 Preview: Campaign Builder

by thesaleswhisperer September 2, 2011 Infusionsoft

Campaign Builder The InfusionSoft team takes the feedback of their clients seriously, as you can see wit the newly updated Campaign feature. It has been completely overhauled to provide InfusionSoft users with: More Triggers  – Campaigns can be triggered to run with more than a web form. Create new triggers such as a purchase is made, a note template is applied, or an opportunity stage is moved or use your existing triggers to start and/or stop a Campaign. Visual Status Tracking – InfusionSoft now gives you a blue status bar showing “16%” or “39%” on the “Campaign Readiness” to let you know when you are ready to launch the Campaign. The additional icons with the new headers and fields with red or green dots help you easily identify issues that might arise when editing the Campaign down the road. Built-in Reporting – “Test and Measure” is the name of the [...]
