Stake Your Google Local Listing TODAY
Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yelp, SEO, SEM, PPC,…AHHH!
Today allow me to nudge you a little so you can claim what is rightfully yours: your Google Maps (or Google Local) listing.
Even if you do not have a website (I can help you with, by the way) open up a new window or tab and visit http://maps.google.com/ and set up your Google Maps listing and make sure the information is displayed correctly?
Go on. I’ll wait right here for ya.
Why is this so important?
Local search is HUGE (and by “local search” I mean somebody typing in “Mexican food Murrieta” instead of just “Mexican food”). By having an accurate, detailed local listing you will reach millions of internet users immediately and at no charge. As in FREE!
Consumers turn to the internet now more than the Yellow Pages so it is VITAL to have your business listed so search engines like Google.com, Google Maps, Yahoo, Bing + Yelp.com. Creating a listing is quick and they have instructions for you each step of the way.
As an added bonus you remain in control of your listing and what it says and can update it at any time. (Try doing that with your Yellow Pages ad!) When you make a change you may have to verify your changes but that can be done with an automated phone call from the search engine’s system.

How To Get a Sales Job This Week
A member of a faith-based LinkedIn group I founded (and now has 1,403 members as of this post) posted the fact that he was praying for a sales job. Here is my response:
“B,
Make a list of the top 10 companies for which you’d like to work and go see them in order. Go sit in the lobby and tell the receptionist you’d like to see the VP of Sales (find his/her name before you arrive.) When they ask if you have an appointment tell them “no” but that you are here to work for free.
After the receptionist tilts her head she’ll eventually contact the VP of Sales. If she says they are not hiring or they VP doesn’t meet with candidates or the VP doesn’t meet with people without appointments or that all job applicants must go through HR just say, “I’m not a candidate. I’m offering your company a $100,000 a year service that will add $1,000,000 to your top line but since this will impact sales and this is a limited offer your VP of Sales will want to see me first. What will it take to fit me in his/her schedule even here in the lobby or in the kitchen for 5 minutes?”
One of three things will happen:
- You’ll meet the VP.
- You’ll get turned away.
- You’ll get an appointment for later that day/week.

Get Found On Google
Putting the finishing touches on a 3-part, live, hands-on workshop with fellow Southerner, Kurtis Gilbreth of Who Knows a Guy, to teach Southern California business owners how to get found on Google.
Google is the 800 lb G-O-RILLA in online search and mastering the tips and tricks and tools and techniques it takes to get found and stay found by Google can be quite confusing.
At the end of 7+ hours of live training our clients will be much less confused. When all is said and done attendees will understand what Google is looking for in a page and a website, how it indexes a site, how to create sites Google loves and can easily index and about 1,132 other things.

How NOT To Win Customers – Verizon FIOS Makes A Mess
Verizon FIOS has some smoking hot fiber to the home service and has been my ISP and TV provider for over 5 years. However, last week I moved into my new home in SoCal and I had to make this video and post.
To their credit the technician was right on time, which is very cool. However, after pulling some cables and drilling a couple of holes the technician left a mess behind him. What you see is insulation pulled out of the wall and left all over my home office floor.
